This volume consists of letters, written between June 1843 and July 1852 by Verdi and by the Neapolitan librettist concerning not only the completed operas – in order: Alzira, La battaglia di Legnano, Luisa Miller and Il trovatore – but also later abandoned subjects such as L’assedio di Firenze and Re Lear.
