An exhaustive and comprehensive study dedicated to the music composed by Verdi for the ballets included in his operas. It includes a detailed historical assessment of each ballet, followed by an analysis of music choreography, accompanied by relevant “incipit” in music. Jürgensen has critically analysed each ballet assessing its genesis and the circumstances of its composition according to archive documents. A detailed file is dedicated to each ballet.
The book includes more than a hundred illustrations with portraits, choreography and the transcription of the Labanotation (Kinetography Laban) of some choreography works.
